The animal changes kind of suck for early game in my opinion until you have a strong enough firearm to handle them in an "oh ♥♥♥♥" situation.but we were at least finding pistols and shotguns and rifles after GameStage12. Blood moons can be a good source of XP if you can handle them, but even the Day 7 one got a little intense for me (I was really trying not to blow through my ammo too quickly and nearly got killed as a result lol). I really do search every inch of the POI's though (which is why I haven't raided any additional larger ones - I haven't found any yet!) I am playing primarily in the forest biome at the moment and a little in the burnt biome. Also, I haven't looted any "major" POI's yet - all my looting has been at just small to medium size houses, with the exception of raiding one Working Stiffs. Plus I used the candies that give you a boost to loot when I was on a trader mission and figured the POI would have good loot - that is where I found the. I think a big part of my finding so much is that I found lucky looter googles day one, then an even better pair around day 5. I wouldn't think it is because you have blood moons turned off.
Note i'm not saying they should remove it, just taking advantage of the option that they included to turn them off) Well then maybe it's because i have blood moons off or something (i have them turned off because i simply don't really like the mechanic. Ironically I don't think I have come across a gun safe yet, but from what I hear I should expect to find just spears when I do lol. All of the weapons were just found looting, but I did also buy a lvl 3 hunting rifle today from a trader. I checked my game stage today while playing and was at level 44 (now on day 13). 44 Mag (can't remember the lvl of that one).
